Blueday Stereo Feat Jocelyn Mathieu – Forever (Incl. DJ Spinna Mix) [SSOH] {promo}

release date: Jul/20/2011

http://www.traxsource.com/index.php?act=show&fc=tpage&cr=titles&cv=98752
It’s another smooth yet explosive release for Claude Monnet’s SSOH imprint, this time in the shape of Blueday Stereo’s lush extravaganza Forever. The French/Belgian duo, comprising Dagui Rodann and Timothy Milton, last graced SSOH with Eternal Love. Now they return, fully exploiting the sultry vocals of Jocelyn Mathieu to provide a devastating slice of dreamy soulful house that at times is deliciously reminiscent of that classic garage flavour.
Forever’s Original Mix effortlessly flexes piano, strings and dancing funk flutes across Mathieu’s silk-like vocal arrangement, while the Francesco Tarantini Remix / Claude Monnet Reshape weighs in deep and downright dirty from the start. Unleashing spoken sample to begin with, then adding huge funky basslines, popping drum rhythms and low-down, rolling percussion elements, the pair strip it down then build it up to devastating effect.
DJ Spinna Galactic adds in beautiful muted brass sections to his re-lick, while Dagui Rodann shirks off his Blueday Stereo pose to issue an almost Moby-esque mix, bringing out the piano section, adding in dreamy snyths and strings and pushing the more dramatic elements of the Original for more of a big room feel. The Deep Hustler’s Classic Remix flows back to the sounds of US Garage, gently pulsating, warm, driving rhythms building through to a stunning organ breakdown; they return with DJ Mute on official Dub duty, losing the vocals slightly, indulging in chunky, funky piano chords to create the rhythm and pace, unleashing anthemic synths across the top and working their way towards a truly heady drop. Rounding things off, Alex Finkin gives possibly the most energetic, uplifting cut in the package, dishing up a liquid piano house edit perfectly poised for those main room, hands in the air moments.

Soulful house music duo DJN Project has been making serious strides with their young label Newav Media. The label has earned deserved attention through high ranking releases featuring superb collaborations with house music heroes Stephanie Cooke, Arnold Jarvis, and Eman. For Newav’s third release DJN Project continue their ambitious collaborative streak by inviting the formidable talent of Kenny Bobien to the mix. Considered by many to be the “King Of Gospel House,” Bobien has recorded classic tracks for Soundmen on Wax, Soulshine, MAW Records, and, of course, King Street Sounds who released his seminal “Brighter Days.” With DJN Project, Bobien extends his line of classic tracks with the heartfelt “What A Way.”

“What A Way” is a gorgeous piece of deep, vocal house. The latin-style percussion intro leads to a steady house rhythm, a melodic disco bass line, and beautifully lush chords and pads. Add Kenny Bobien’s affecting falsetto to all of this and the dancefloor quickly reaches house music heaven. Three tempting remixes enhance this outstanding song giving DJs a trio of alluring options. Carlos Vargas, who has remixed for Purple Music, Look At You, and Solid Ground delivers a silky, percussive mix with a powerful vocal breakdown. Frequent DJN Project collaborator and Twirlspace owner John Crockett provides the next mix, adding jazzy elements, an impressive organ solo, and emotive strings to the song. The single closes with a deep mix from Phil Hooten, known previously for his track “Epichoregeo” featured on Kerri Chandler’s Coast 2 Coast compilation for NRK. With a subtle broken beat feel, Phil’s full and building production engagingly cradles Kenny Bobien’s masterful vocal work.

“What A Way,” from DJN Project and Kenny Bobien, marks yet another hallmark for Newav Media and this impressive family of house music producers, DJs, and vocalists. Stay tuned for more exciting tracks and collaborations from DJN Project to come soon.

———–
Asha Edmund is the award-winning soul singer from Singapore who has garnered rave reviews and accolades for her rousing performances and rich, powerhouse vocals. Her masterful delivery, coupled with a graceful ability to hit impossible notes with fluid ease and dulcet tones, has defied age, gender and racial boundaries to charm audiences throughout the nation. Scores of soccer fans remember her for her compelling a cappella rendition of Liverpool Football Club’s anthem, “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, to a 55,000 strong crowd at the National Stadium, while theatre mavens will recall her stunning solo in the musical, RENT, that stirred the audience to their feet. But it was her vocal performance at Singapore’s National Day that truly brought the little lady with the gigantic voice to the attention of the entire nation. With a Radio Music Award (DJ’s CHOICE – ‘Best Local Act’), Compass Award (‘Top Local Pop Song’ for her song, ‘Dorian Bay’), recording contract with Cresian Records and multiple radio hits under her belt, Asha was recognised as one of Singapore’s Top Ten Talents in the Arts Magazine. Her alma mater, Lasalle-SIA College of the Arts, has also honored her with a place on their list of ‘Contemporary Heroes’. A vocal chameleon who segues effortlessly from genre to genre, Asha rejects the idea of caging herself in a box. Her latest musical offerings have been described as ‘electronic soul’ or even ‘dance music served chilled’, but she is no stranger to pop, jazz, broadway, show tunes and the standards. Currently on Asha’s plate is a salad of industrious activity as she hits the studio to work on remixing more recent songs. She has joined the GKF with the first single ‘CARRY ME OVER’ and now she’s came back with this new amazing project.

Frankie J – Bite Sized Beats Vol. 3 [Flapjack Records]

http://www.traxsource.com/index.php?act=show&fc=tpage&cr=titles&cv=98756
Flapjack Records is proud to present the 3rd release in a new off shoot collection of single vinyl pressings entitled Bite Sized Beats..yep that’s right, the tiny little records that used to have big holes in the middle and played at 45 rpm, that’s what these releases will be pressed on. Only these records will have the standard sized pin hole and have a full 6 to 7 minute house track on each side that plays at 33 rpm. But aren’t records low in volume you may ask? Truthfully they are lower in volume than other pressings, but ironically are mastered at a higher volume than digital releases and sound super warm and great! It’s a big sound on a smaller format which is why the name Bite Sized Beats suits it well.
Bite Sized Beats Vol. 3 celebrates the return of the Flapjack master chef and spatula maker, Frankie J. Sometimes it feels good to crawl out from behind the curtain, fart, do a lap around the room giving it a good crop dusting, and then blame it on poor ventilation. So that just about sums up this fabulous new single from Frankie J. Gonna Give It To Ya will definitely clear a room and move them straight to the dance floor with its awesomely odoriferous bass line and tantalizing vocal workout. This is one for both cheeks and makes for all the right vibrations.
On the flip side, Same Old Thing really churns the funk. This is a bit of that rootsy funk from somewhere beneath the bowels of house music. You can’t help from moving your ass cheeks to the grunting vocals and surging saxophone licks. It’s a bit of the Same Old Thing so to speak, but the perfect medicine for a dance floor that feels like it’s been sipping Pepto Bismol all night. This jam will really get people cranking em out on the dance floor with a vengeance. Caution, do not mix with Four Loko or main cause irreplaceable bowel damage.
So if you want to get explosive up in the dance hall then you need to grab Bite Sized Beats Vol. 3. This will supercharge the jammalamma out of your set and hit the crowd with something they have never experienced in all of their major sensory locations. Better grab this before it’s made illegal.
