Guerilla Science – The Silverback EP [Mentalinstrum] {promo}

release date: Feb/17/2011

preview

Eddie Perez Co-Signs for Guerilla Science on this one…

Written, Produced and Mixed by GUERILLA SCIENCE.

GUERILLA SCIENCE are:

KEVIN JHAGRU aka KEVIN JAZZY J:
Kevin Jazzy J’s love affair with music started at an early age in his home town of Winnipeg, Manitoba. His Caribbean parents would fill the house with island rhythms and South Asian grooves, along with a steady flow of 1970’s contemporary sounds.
Relocation to Toronto in the 80’s brought with it new sounds and experiences that expanded Kevin’s musical horizons exponentially. The introduction of electronic music into his aural adventures created the kind of excitement that Kevin knew he needed to be a part of. He began avidly listening to everything he could get his hands on, focusing on disco and immersing himself in 70’s culture.
As a dj, Kevin allows all these influences resonate, priding himself in the principles of the disco era, namely, that programming and the listener’s enjoyment are paramount. He has dj’d alongside some of the very best, including Mr. V, Taylor McFerrin, Dennis Ferrer, Kenny Bobien and Frankie Feliciano, just to name a few.
Kevin’s musical horizons continue to expand, as a producer with partner Cullen Greaves in Guerilla Science. Their first release, “Awakening” brought together their unique sides of the sonic schoolyard into a wicked blend that received much deserved international buzz and was charted by Roy Davis Jr, Carlos Mena and Dj Oji. Watch for highly anticipated upcoming releases from Guerilla Science in 2011 on Mentalinstrum and more.

CULLEN GREAVES:
Born in the West Indies, Cullen was raised in Toronto by Trinidadian parents who proudly celebrated their roots, a constant calypso stream punctuated by local and international sounds running through the house. At the earliest possible age he began to break down the sounds around him, launching his future from the meticulously maintained stereo turntable in the basement, turning a modest record collection into so much more than the grooves on the vinyl.
Cullen evolved over the years into an essential element on the Toronto House scene, putting out soulful sounds at every opportunity. With influences that vary from the international to local house heroes such as Tyrone Solomon (83 West ,2Twenty Music), Nick Holder (DNH, NRK), residencies, net-radio, after-hours parties and guest spots have all been a part of the mix for a DJ whose intense passion for musical expression has contributed to the utmost respect for those who create it.
Cullen’s constant artistic evolution now finds him in the studio as one half of Guerilla Science, producing new sounds with partner Kevin Jazzy J. Their first project, “Awakening”, came out to much deserved international buzz in 2009. With new original works with local and international artists in development and a steady flow of remix projects on the boards, the next year promises to be revolutionary for Guerilla Science with releases to come on the Mentalinstrum label building excitement for 2011.
