The Rurals Feat. Jaidene Veda
Into Life
With mixes by: Glenn Underground, Jason B, PM Project and Andy Compton
The rebirth of The Rurals is really and truly a fact after this. Andy Compton’s unique lush, soulful and deeper than deep soundtrack is matched only by the contribution of the one of the best underground female vocalists in the business Jaidene Veda. The third major ingredient to this sound is the super sonic funk of Pete Mo’s keys. Pete is in artistic league of his own as he as shown throughout the years recording his “hits” on Peng Records.
This project was a spiritual mission from start to finish, with storybook elements when through fate these amazing artists linked up. Culminating with Jaidene travelling all the way from her native Canada to Devon in Southwest England to meet up with Andy in his Deep House laboratory and create this music in his studio by the sea. The timing and the mood was right. All the factors that have made The Rurals great throughout the years were there, the warmth, the real instruments, the Soul, the vocals, the heavy Deepness, but now somehow, amazingly the sound has moved on to a higher level. This is the Rurals at their best!
The other mixes on this E.P are epic in there own right.
Starting with the living legend that is Glenn Underground. Glenn’s contribution to House music can not be overstated. A true musical pioneer and virtuoso for many years basically defining Deep Chicago House for decades. The orchestration on his mix is breathtaking! Real musicians, real analogue in a digital world and certainly REAL DEEP!
Next comes two mixes from the Canadian sensation Jason B. Both are exceptional with Jason merging definitive Rurals beats together into a powerful cocktail of sound. Next level House music here!
Also on this release is PM Project from the underground Afro Deep scene in South Africa. Proper tribal flavours mix with jazzy keys. These guys definitely are ones to watch out for in the future.
Andy Compton himself rounds out the package with his own dub which proves once again why he is one of the most important and innovative producers out there today!
Now is the time for this sound.

Raoul Kahn – Thinking About You (Incl. Ross Couch Remix) [Eight Fifteen] {promo}

Presenting the latest release from San Francisco discovery, Raoul Kahn. His third release on our label further highlights his production talents, this time working with a sultry vocal from local San Francisco singer Natasha Adorlee Johnson.
Thinking About You kicks off with Glaswegian Ross Couch‘s exquisite remix. Featuring a dreamy string accompaniment that builds and builds, Natasha’s vocals float seductively over an insistent bassline accompanied by gorgeous pads and synths, this mix is the definition of luscious.
Raoul’s Original Mix takes a more stripped down approach with a funky synth bass line, providing a solid foundation for the floaty synths and Natasha’s vocals to play over.
The Tech mix is next, replacing the drums with more than a touch of tech deepness.
Finally, the Dub takes us back to the feel of the Original Mix, with Natasha’s vocals punctuating throughout.

Ross Couch
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, a long recognised hotspot within the dance music community, it’s little wonder that Ross quickly became seduced by the rapidly evolving sound of house and techno in the early 90’s, and he quickly became involved in producing his own material. His productions first came to light on the Bellboy and Panther labels where his difficult to pigeonhole brand of dancefloor techno and melodic tech house had him being compared in the press to numerous dance music illuminaries such as Deep Dish, Dave Angel, Slam and Ron Trent to name but a few, whilst DJ support came from the likes of Laurent Garnier and Colin Dale.
From their Ross stepped up a gear, pushing a more house based sound drawing from deeper and funkier styles whilst still retaining the drive and energy of his techno productions which has now become recognised as something of a trademark. This helped secure releases on a series of highly regarded labels such as Siesta, Kinky Vinyl and Red Melon, picking up placings on the influential Hype and Coolcuts charts along the way whilst DJ’s right across the board gave their support, from Pete Tong to Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox to Deep Dish, Mazi to Omid 16B, and many more.
