JD73 – The Remixes (Incl. Sean McCabe & Tornado Wallace Mixes) [Z Records] {promo}

release date: Jun/16/2011

http://www.traxsource.com/index.php?act=show&fc=tpage&cr=titles&cv=92714
New Remixes from Sean McCabe & Tornado Wallace

Leeds based keyboard whizz Dan Goldman undoubtedly delivered one of the soul albums of 2010 in the shape of JD73’s “Pure Gold” cd which topped Solar Radio’s Sweet Rhythms Chart for over a month.

Now we give you some blazing hot remixes of two of the prime cuts. ‘Think Twice’ featuring Ella May (who has previously featured with Nightmares On Wax) gets given the bumpy soulful house treatment from ever reliable Sean McCabe. Check out his similarly 90s garage style dub too.

Tornado Wallace has been making a name with some high quality releases on labels like Delusions of Grandeur. He takes the instrumental ‘Into The Night’ into more hypnotic territory but retains the original musicality and jazziness

Last is Dan’s own extended take of the CD’s 80s boogie style ‘Round And Round’, complete with plenty of D Train style riffs and punchy brass.

Seb Skalski delivers a groovy laidback version, Ray Paxon gets deep on his spell binding take, Carlos Vargas gives the track an uplifting summery touch, BBwhite turns out an uber cool deep’n’funky rework and Alias Rhythm take the track to the main floor.

The Pimp – Everyday / Popes City / Manoo (Incl. Jerk House Connection Remix) [SSOH] {promo}

release date: May/25/2011

Claude Monnet is renowned for spotting new talent and offering a platform to release through his SSOH imprint – and with French trio The Pimp, he’s bang on the money yet again.

THE PIMP – EVERYDAY / POPE’S CITY / MANOO

FRENCH TRIO RELEASE DEBUT EP ON SSOH SOAKED TO THE BONE WITH SOUL

SSOH is renowned for spotting talent and giving it a platform to release their creations – and with French trio The Pimp, he’s bang on the money yet again.

Hailing from the south of France, Benedetto & Farina and DMC stalwart, hip-hop and funk aficionado Mr Masta have been around on the music scene for over a decade individually, but in their first outing together, they dish up an unqualified serving of lush, deep, soulful house music.
Everyday, with its Original and Jerk House Connection remix, can easily be described in one word – beautiful; a vocal line soaked to the bone in soul, muted pianos and soft bass gently coercing the track onwards.

From its first beat, Pope’s City is, as the trio’s name suggests, pimped up to the max. Popping percussion, low-down vocal drops, reverberating bass, stripped back strings and a deep, atmospheric build-up converge to create a stunningly minimalistic nu-disco offering. The Soulful mix kicks off in a similar vein to the original but halfway through completely and utterly gets a huge groove on, giving it a meatier, more pumped-up taste for dance floor connoisseurs.

Final track on the EP Manoo carries on the theme of big, deep bass sounds, this time matching them to tribal percussive elements designed solely to make your body move. Just as much at home in a tech-house set as it would a deep house or tribal one, it perfectly rounds off what is an altogether stunning debut release. With their collective manifesto based on that familiar phrase “Dance like no-one is watching” The Pimp prove that they do exactly what they say on the tin.
