Various Artists – The Flapjack Sampler Platter [Flapjack Records]

The 3rd edition of Flapjack Digital is upon us!!!  This release is a nice sampler platter of four different delicious delights from some of house music’s most promising up ‘n’ coming producers.

Sandwich Chris of the Netherlands hits us with the silky smooth soul grabbin’ beaterMusic Speaks To All”, which has one of the most catchy vocals and sax licks that you will be humming for weeks after hearing it.

Next up, Francis Jilla known for his smashing records on the famed Guess Who label, returns from a long hiatus to bring us Electric Eel”.  This tune has that anthemy jam squat that only the Jilla ferilla can bring.  “Electric Eel” is a peak time floor smasher that bends you till you break.

To round thing out we have the Corduroy Mavericks hailing from Kentucky coming at you with a real summertime ice cream cone of a jam.  Break A Dawn” has got that good time feel with its light hearted groove with fun feeling vocals.  This tune is destined to be a summertime favorite.

Last but not least is Alex RD from Germany bringing us back to that snappin UK Garage sound.  “Elites is a fantastically produced tune with that signature 4×4 UK Garage sound chock full of key stabs all around the sound sphere and pounding sub bass underneath it.  Simply a great track to round out this versatile sampler release.  There is something for everyone is this release, so don’t be shy and come and grab yourself a stack o’ fun!!

Orange Muse – BUMP (Incl. Kenny Dope remixes) [Colourful Recordings]

Orange Muse – BUMP (incl. Kenny Dope remixes)

Second installment on Colourful has Tobias Linden, Orange Muse returning with some serious summer heat. The terrace mix with it?s euphoric piano hook and vocal chants against a funky backdrop will be perfect for those late decadent summer nights. The basement mix is an altogether different affair, stripping all the elements, featuring a raw synth hook to build the tension. Bouncy with prominent percussion this mix still carries the uplifting, spiritual feel of the terrace mix. Stepping up to remix is none other than the beats maestro himself, Mr. Kenny Dope. Drawing on the past, adding a splash of new, Kenny comes really fresh on this one. Raw, dry beats, deep bass drops and a sax hook to match the vox snippets – this is one piece of fierce floor action! Add to that an instrumental and the colorful year of 2011 is in full gear– what else do you need?

the tl terrace mix is fine, not crazy about it but the spirit on it is good, the other too tl mixes are too raw and a bit simple, definitely the terrace is the one from tl. oh the kenny dope mixes are wicked! totally into it, typical great kd beats, using well the vocal cuts and then boom the bassline comes, yeah this is the one for me. 8/10

d-t3ch – Scholars Make Dollars [Flapjack Records]

For the third installment of the Flapjack Records vinyl editions, we have our good buddy from Melbourne -> the one like the d-T3ch!!

For the third installment of the Flapjack Records vinyl editions, we have our good buddy from Melbourne -> the one like the d-T3ch!! With a slew of slammin releases on all the happy fun times underground house labels we love, d-T3ch now comes correct with a crackin new release on the Flapjack attack called the Scholars With Dollars EP.

To kick things off, d-T3ch gives us a very tasty piano jam called Dusk Til Dawn that pretty much rocks around the clock. It’s peak time piano licks the syrup right off my plate. mmm mmmm, now that be the slammajammalamma!

The second namesake jam is Scholars Make Dollars, which if that were true…i would be filthy rich and eatin silver dollar pancakes for breakfast every morning. This tune at least makes you feel like a million dollars when you hear it on the dancefloor. It’s like the sound of honey to a bee, and it is the bees knees!

On the remix tip, we have in our good buddies Scrubfish & Laurence alongside house phenom Johnny Fiasco to slay a couple remixes of Dusk Til Dawn. SnL’s mix is a solid bassline bumper with plenty of cuts n bruises just like we do in this camp. Johnny’s remix is a shake n bake, plenty of bass krush groove to move ya to the egg beater bump….whatever that means. Shak n bake baby! Shake n bake!!!
