Hugh Masekela of Witbank, South Africa, as the lead vocalist and trumpeter for “We Are One” understands the message completely, he is a man born to create beautiful music. Having falling in love with the sound of the trumpet in his teenage years, by 16 he had formed the first youth band in S.Africa in the early 1940’s. There have been many firsts since then and Masekela has been a part of great change and movement in S.Africa and around the world. Having met, been inspired and working with various artists like The Byrds, Bob Marley, Letta Mbulu, Monk Montgomery, Dudu Pukwana, Fela Kuti, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Miriam Makeba, we are very honored to have Hugh Masekela join us in creating “WE ARE ONE”.
The award winning DJ/Producer Black Coffee out of South Africa who has been experiencing great international success with “Kwanele”, “Turn Me On”, and “Superman” also lent his musical talents to the creation of “We Are One”, working closely with Louie Vega and the various artists involved to create a sound and a message that speaks volumes to the masses.
Anane Vega coupled with Josh Milan take the thought inspiring lyrics of J.W Mthethwa and breath life into them, creating a rhythmic and melodic sound that will elevate the spirit and energy for all to rejoice within the music and on the dance floor. Anane brings her Cape Verdian roots and all her recent international success with “Ananesworld” to the spirit of “We Are One”. Working together with Josh Milan who is the voice of an entire house music generation with hits like “Elements of Life” and “How Deep is Your Love”, Anane and Josh are the perfect vocal combination to share the message of “We Are One”. To complete the sound and message we brought the purest form of light we know, the voices of our children to share awareness and hope. Nico, Adam, and Anselm with there simple and poignant unscripted words express what they feel the world needs to improve on for them to have a brighter future and we agree full heartedly.
