To Frivolous, dance music is about living life to the full, about acting out all possible human emotions in the eccentric, sweaty arena of a club. Daniel Gardner?s tracks engage the crowds with grooves bursting of life and startling, eerie atmospheres. Exotic samples arranged into improbable yet emotionally charged atmospheres create a very special Frivolous experience: The sounds of a primeval forest encounters a dignified, aristocratic piano, a beautiful Russian Waltz gets twisted into a overturning house groove. Veteran vocalist’s freshman production effort is a nasty, noisy, broken beat basted, jazz infused house homage to the musicians and spirit of the late Malcolm Mclaren’s 1983 Duck Rock album. Inspired by the visionary producer’s recent passing, “You.Me.World” is an ode to all things NY/London hip-hop 80’s fusion, and it’s profound impact on Ms. Bingham’s sonic psyche. Brazenly kissing the era’s clich’s on the cheek, from natural piano to looped saxophone lick to break sample c/o Dennis Ferrer’s “I Can’t Imagine”, the original mix dares only the most eclectic tastemakers to take it for a spin. Rounding out the package are additional mixes from beasts and legends, Ralf Gum, Jon Cutler, Leighton Moody and DJ Christos.
