Ziggy Funk Feat. Taliwa – Everyday (Yass Mixes) [Foliage Records] {promo}

release date: Mar/07/2011

Following their most successful year to date – Foliage Records return with their long-awaited debut release of 2011. Kick-starting the year with the release of Everyday, the widely anticipated release is a striking juxtaposition of the raw and immaculate emerging London talent from Ziggy Funk and Taliwa, remixed by the Parisian house connoisseur DJ Yass.

The Original of Everyday, to be released later in the year, is a stunning culmination of Ziggy Funk’s profound compositional dexterity, underpinned by the unrefined, sensual and soulful dulcet tones of Taliwa. An exploration throughout the cavernous depths of pure house, Everyday is an undeniable stepping stone in the flourishing career of these up-and-coming talents.

“It’s always a pleasure to work with Taliwa. With ‘Everyday’ it came out very naturally and we both wanted the song to stand out more so for the lyrics than the beat. So as I produced the song I moulded it to the story of the lyrics to create this piece. The ideas flowed so naturally.” Ziggy Funk

“I hope the listener finds this to be a therapeutic song as it has helped me through a difficult time. People can use this as a tool to work through any negative energy and realise there is light at the end of the tunnel.” Taliwa

Offering an exclusive and exceptional interpretation of Everyday, DJ Yass’ contribution to the release provides and irrefutable reinforcement of its technical prowess. A culmination of his many decades of highly revered experience DJ Yass indulges us in a decadent and highly unique remix, touching upon his rarely encompassed melodic and harmonious aptitude. A truly humbling reconstruction, his remix of Everyday is underlined through its poignant delivery; powerful, revolutionary and inspiring.

“DJ Yass is a favourite producer of mine and I had no issue with him taking on the remix. He’s [done] a great job of doing the song justice.” Ziggy Funk

An unquestionably powerful step forward, Foliage Records continues to provide an imaginative platform, showcasing musicians and artists without limits, boundaries or conformity.

Peckos – Truffles EP [Lost My Dog]

The 3rd release from Peckos on Lost My Dog, including remixes from Vernon & DaCosta and Kirby. DJ support from key names including Giom, Inland Knights, Diz, Mark Farina, DJ Heather, Scope and more.

‘Truffles EP’ brings up a hat-trick of releases for Peckos on Lost My Dog. The three original tracks show how his sound has continued to develop since his debut ‘Belgian Nights EP’ in May 2009 with more mature deep house grooves and a knowledge of what works well on a dancefloor. In typical Peckos style, there are still bucket-loads of funk and a cheeky edge to the tracks. Remixes are provided by fellow Belgian’s Vernon & DaCosta, now regarded amongst the leading players in deep house and Frenchman Kirby, another young producer who’s star is rising at a rapid rate.

DJ Reactions:
Giom: Great release, and ace remixes! Been playing these and will continue to do so
Inland Knights: v+d do the business again
Diz: Peckos does it again!! Serious all around effort!! Standouts are V&D remix, Truffles & Kirby remix.. Kudos gentlemen!!!
Mark Farina: Most excellent!
DJ Heather: Really solid original tracks and remixes all round. Nice ep from LMD
Scope: Really nice package of groovy deep house.. will play!
Jesus Gonsev: Kirby and Vernon & DaCosta are my favs!! Solid works!! Perfect to move the dancefloor
Tres Manos: Kirby Remix is killer!!! Great work!
Giano: Loving this EP The vernon &Decosta; is DOPE!!
Raoul Belmans: Peckos making me hungry once more. Eating the Kirby remix alive
Dubble D / Moodymanc: Nice EP….kirby’s mix and why should I stood out on first flick through, but great elements in all

Bay Area Songstress Elise teams up with Soso Deep for a Whopper of a gem!

more on Elise:

Elise Gargalikis is a soul singer, songwriter, born and raised in the east bay. Elise began singing at 6 years old and began performing on stage at 10. Her love for music and performing continued and she performed in over 10 musical theatre productions, dozens of talent shows, festivals, contests, and weddings throughout her teen years. Her favorite roles include: Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd, Amaryllis in The Music Man, Antonia in The Man of La Mancha, Lynette Fromme Assassins, and others. Her love for writing began early, around 11, she began writing poems and songs and creating melodies for them. With notebooks and notebooks filled with songs, at 14, Elise had an opportunity to write and record two original songs at a prestigious studio in Burbank, Ca- Encore studios. She later performed those two songs as an opening act for local Pittsburg, CA personality Joey Acuna on local broadcast television. As a senior in high school she competed in her school’s version of American I dol, “Liberty Idol,” and won first place. She has also competed in several torch song competitions, performing the amazing music of Billie Holiday and other torch singers from the past. This sparked an interest in combing those great songs and wonderful time period into modern music. In 2003 she was introduced to House music. Her musical influence was vast with favorites like Jamiroquai, Prince, Erykah Badu, Radiohead, Frank Sinatra, Billi Holiday, Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and many more but she had never heard House. Once she did, she was hooked. She began trying to sing with Dj’s during their sets and loved it. Over the next few years she performed at various parties in her hometown with Delta Funk Dj’s such as Rob Amorin, Dusty Carter, Izzy, and on a rare occasion Demarkus Lewis. In her live sets she would combine house music with torch songs of days gone by as well as her own original lyrics. In 2006 she met Dj Elz, by 2007 they were creating origi nal music and performing live improvised sets at various underground parties in the SF bay area and east bay. They submitted their first original song “Useless” into Test Press hosted by Pyramind, with Chris Lum as one of the judges and won 2nd place. Their second original song “Soul Power” also submitted later and caught the eye of judge David Harness. These two house pioneers created Harlum Musiq and gave Elz and Elise an opportunity of a lifetime. “Soul Power” was released for download on traxsource.com mid June 2010. Look out for “Useless” from Harlum Music next. Elz and Elise Elise will also be releasing “Move On” on Mizumo music with Dj Denise in 2011. Elise is currently working with SoSo Deep founder Stephen Rigmaiden on her highly anticipated release “I’m Not That Kind of Girl” and various other projects. 2011 will be the year to shine for this young singer. With multiple collaborations and projects in the w orks you don’t want to miss a “beat.”

Onur Ozman – Hold On EP [Onethirty]

preview

Onur is back with 3 deep jackers!

Former Turkish based producer Onur Ozman returns to Onethirty for his 2nd outing with the Hold On EP! The EP styles 3 original tracks from Onur.Onur’s now relocated to Zurich Switzerland home to many great producers! Recording works for labels such as Ambiosphere, Rebirth, Night Drive, Pesto and Onethirty, Ozman’s deep, techy sound has raised attention over the 25 + EPs and remixes he’s released in a short span of time.

Hold On the title track is a driving tribal work out that builds from an amazing piano led into! The track was recently featured on the new Onethirty Mixed 002 the second continuos catalog mix, this tim remixed by Orlando’s Atnarko.

Don’t You Want to Party is a bouncing house cut that touches on the smoother side of jackin! Leveled out with stabbed synth pads and piano. Building vocals and vibe build to be a sure winner for all house djs from Jacking to deep.

Finally In This City bumps its way though the speakers with a choppy feel and punchy bass line. Semi quirky percussive elements combine to create a fun rhythmic groove!
