DJN Project, making serious waves in New York City’s soulful house community, bursts forth with an arresting new single released on their very own new label Newav Media. Comprised of Rick Galactik and Ruben Swift Vidal, DJN Project have joined their experiences of producing hip hop and R&B, touring with internationally known pop acts, and dancing the night away at Club Shelter into a vocal house sound that pulls everything together into an impressive, unique style. After releasing acclaimed singles on top labels like Vega Records, SOLE Channel, and Soundmen On Wax the duo has decided to take matters into their own hands with the launch of Newav Media. And quite an explosive launch it is … this first single is DJN Project’s collaboration with beloved house music vocalists Arnold Jarvis and Stephanie Cooke, titled Get Close.

Most fans of NYC house are well aware of Arnold Jarvis and Stephanie Cooke. Jarvis has big singles on the likes of Strictly Rhythm, MAW Records, and Transport while Cooke has dazzled dance floors with singles on King Street Sounds, West End Records, and many others. This combined pedigree is undeniably evident in Get Close which also marks the first duet by the music veterans. DJN Project are on hand to supply the music and beats with a tight track written specifically for the talented vocalists. An energetic four-on-the-floor rhythm is accented by jazzy rhodes keys and classic sounding synth lines. Jarvis and Cooke trade off on vocals and harmonies like the seasoned pros they are, easily making this cut a future poolside anthem (and, just in time for WMC, we might add).

A trio of remixers are on hand to create a diverse set of their own music for the fantastic vocal performances. First up is Juan Sanchez, co-founder of Soul Selection Music and member of Step Mode and Jurno Bros., delivers a techier, late night treatment perfect for dimly lit dance floors. Montreal’s Bacanito is next up with a decidedly deeper version filled with skippy beats and lush pianos and strings. Lastly, Seedadian Deep, made up of Bradford James (Seed Recordings) and Trinidadian Deep (Prescription Recordings), get even deeper while also adding a tribal, percussive element and a warm, throbbing low end to the track. All four versions of Get Close comprise a quality package that will earn a solid place in the virtual crates of soulful house DJs. This is just the beginning … stay tuned for much more soon to come from DJN Project and Newav Media.
