The Monster 2010 Souful House hit gets a brand new set of Remixes-

A monster hit in 2010, the dance anthem Guidance gets a 2011 makeover from fresh and exciting remix talent emerging on the global dance scene. The original producer, Distant People (Joey Silvero), starts things off with his Amnesia Remix and then joins the talented musician and DJ Dave Mayer for a second rework.

This terrific deep house package concludes with remixes from UK based Beaten Soul and finally Thomas De Lorenzo after his superior recent outings on Defected and Purple Music.

Mona Bode in her own words.

Hot spoken word track by new recording artist Mona Bode that will move every body and soul on any dancefloor!Johnny Dangerous offers his talent in this hot release.

Cyberjamz Records would like to welcome and introduce New Recording Artist Mona Bode to our label, her first release “My first Love” with mixes by the legendary Trevor Fox, and & OSH,are just outstanding with spoken word lyrics in reference to Housemusic & Musical Culture in general.

Growing up in the south bronx, my family always kept the radio station on WBLS FM listening to Frankie Crocker every afternoon during the era of the Funhouse and Bond International. listening to tracks like “LOVE IS THE MESSAGE”, “RUNAWAY” AND “DR. LOVE”. I remember the first time I heard “DO U LOVE ME” BY LIL LOUIS. OOOWWEEE I couldnt wait to hit the clubs. The music always made me feel like I could just be me, Free with no worries. Just me and the music.

Ive always written and loved spoken word. My favorite poet is Nikki Giovanni . She inspired me to write and because of my love of housemusic I decided to write A piece about my love of housemusic and put that poem to a soulful house beat, and called it “MY FIRST LOVE”. Now when you hear this track at first you think its about a guy but by the end of the track you know exactly what im talking about. A true head can understand what im saying. There’s a line in the track that goes “And think I might be happier over there (hip hop) and for a while maybe, but you, you have a way of making me desire you all over again” what a line, and that’s so true. Time and again I always went back and forth from house to hip hop to r&b and to even jazz but I always went back to what I love, where I was comfortable, listening to house music. For me its always about the music, cause housemusic is always on my mind.

THE HYPE

A great new collab by Ananda Project feat. “Touched the Sky” songstress Mia Tuttavilla called “Awareness” hits us right in the gut with a masterful remix by the legendary Kerri Chandler. Mia’s cool deep sexy spoken word layed over Kerri’s signature profound rubber bass, thick deep jabbing percussion make this one of ultimate deep house tunes. Kerri supplies us with a funky array of mixes that take us on a plateau of deep & tech sound and his Dub is sure to be floor filler. As Chris Brann’s mixes take on a more minimal sound in both his Dub & Original. Overall, definitely amazing collaborative efforts we have here so be sure not to sleep on this one.

Frankie J vs. Sonny Fodera – Frankie J vs. Sonny Fodera [Flapjack Records]

Flapjack Records is super stoked to present it’s 4th vinyl edition. In this episode we have Flapjack front man Frankie J, who has recently earned himself honorable mention in the completely made up Breakfast Foods Quarterly for his solid recipes during The Sound Republic era alongside solo releases and remixes on Spatula City & Flapjack. This release also features Adelaide iron chef Sonny Fodera, fresh off his two smash releases from Drop & Guesthouse wasting no time in the kitchen with his slammin’ joints. Together these two somalies of syrup bring you a maple syrup conglomerate of dynamite proportions.

On the sunnyside we have Frankie J’s vocal jam Got This Feeling. This tune rides a wicked vocal that you could just wake up to in the morning. It’s like starting your day with a complete breakfast that will keep you singing all day. Watch out for the wicked key solo as its so nasty it may give you indigestion. Sonny Fodera’s mix takes an already great recipe and makes is twice as nice with his bassline techniques. Smooth as french silk but still jackin is the way of this samurai.

On the overeasy side we have Sonny Fodera’s bassline bananza Homebaked. If you like in your face slappa da bass mon, then this tune is your jack. It’s unbelievably driving funk bassline played by Sonny himself can chop down trees like a lumberjack on goofballs. The tune is a dinner bell peak time call to the dancefloor ringer. Frankie J’s mix compliments the funk nicely with just the right amount of spice. A little bit of some sexy sax mixed with some piano licks and the right amount of jump up, bakes a bumpin Homebaked remix. If you like hot breakfast, then don’t sleep in and miss this tastey ticket!!!

Black Coffee feat. Thiwe – Crazy (Manoo & Francois A. & Charles Webster Mixes) [Foliage Records] {promo}

release date: May/02/2011

preview

The definitive soulful house track of 2010, Crazy by Black Coffee featuring Thiwe, reaches the final stage in its constant evolution, progression and reinterpretation within the house world. Crazy, which topped the Traxsource singles charts for 2010, received the accolades and praise of the house world’s most revered names for its unadulterated and soulful passion.

Black Coffee, the master behind Crazy, is the most notable name in South African house music, and is one of the most imperative and admired names within the house world. Recently completing a 60 hour charitable DJ set, and with constant culturally minded output, Black Coffee’s fiercely passionate and ambitious musical ethos is venerated worldwide.

Crazy has already been reinterpreted and reinvented by some of the house world’s most respected producers, including the illustrious Quentin Harris, Zepherin Saint and Culoe De Song, and within its final chapter of creative evolution, Charles Webster, Manoo & Francois A give Crazy the soulful and aurally decadent send off it deserves.

Poignant, moving and engaging, Charles Webster, Manoo & Francois A leave their signature soulful and spiritual sounds within their remixes. Dazzling and daring, they remain innovative, imaginative and ingenious whilst remaining respectful to Crazy’s original emotional finesse. Crazy, which holds great significance to all involved, is nurtured most fervently by its original creators.

“The 1st time I heard this track it was an RnB Soul version that Thiwe did for her album 3 years ago. I was hooked by how she had written it and expressed herself vocally. I then spoke to her when I was working on my album Home Brewed 2 years ago to see if we could re-work and re-record. Well yeah, the rest is history.” (Black Coffee)

“Crazy was written when I got my heart broken and it took me some time to get over the pain. I would still wish that the man I loved would come back to me. So it healed me, and now I sing it with such passion because it takes me back to that moment in my life.” (Thiwe)

An inspiring and eternally enchanting track, Crazy, will forever be embedded within the hearts of the house world. A musical journey and endeavour for Black Coffee, Thiwe, the multitude of remixers and Foliage Records, Crazy proves the historical and poignant soundtrack to contemporary house, in its many striking forms.
