Various – Remixed & Recovered – A Yoruba Records Compilation [Yoruba]

– ?Remixed & Recovered? encompasses unreleased versions of classic tracks Yoruba catalogue and more. From Kiko Navarro’s infused re-edit Of Afefe Iku’s ?Bodydrummin Pt I & Pt II?, Zed Bias, under his Maddslinky guise, giving the space flip to Nomumbah’s ?Flora?, through to DJ Spinna’s unreleased version of Mellow Madness ?Now Your Calling? this compilation is a forum for version of songs that prove to stand the test of time and hold the dance floor. Regular Osunlade collaborators Erro and Nadirah Shakoor appear with ?She Went Away? (Yoruba Soul Mix) and ?Touched My Soul? respectively. Maddslinky is back to re-work Santos? ?Yo Soy?, taken from their forthcoming long player ?Crossroads?, whilst Jimmy Abney, to whose memory this album is dedicated, gets the remix treatment from Karizma on ?Crazy Love? and Temple Movement on ?What?s On Your Mind?. ?Remixed & Recovered? is proof that good music renews effortlessly, and Yoruba Records catalogue is definitely full of good music.Remixed & Recovered – A Yoruba Records Compilation1. First release from dojob Records this year, and they bring you the first solo project from Eastern Cape (South Africa) born and bred artist Lefixx Sasanti

Lefixx Sasanti is no stranger to the game, he has been featured on a lot of productions by dojob label head nkokhi at the time his name was only Lefixx. 2011 sees the growth of this humble man from Uitenhage (a small town outside of Port Elizabeth, South Africa), as he presents his first single as a solo act. The remixes vary with sounds from around the world as KlevaKeys, Pascal Morais, nkokhi, Thozot and Deepsouls bring in their different takes on this record. It is truly a jam packed EP.

As dojob we would like to thank all our loyal supporters, Lefixx for the delivery and the remixers, KlevaKeys, Pascal Morais, Thozot, nkokhi and Deepsouls, its been a great pleasure putting together this package.

Random Soul – Hypnotize Me (Incl. Jay J Mixes) [Random Soul Recordings] {promo}

release date: Mar/01/2011

For RSR’s 8th release we have something very special and one of the most diverse packages yet !

For RSR’s 8th release we have something very special and one of the most diverse packages yet !

“Hypnotize Me” comes with a plethora of mixes, from party jackin, melodic and soulful, big room dubbed out, through to the floor filling bass heavy remixes from Grammy Award nominee, Jay-J.

Random Soul’s original mix has been getting some serious airplay in their live shows ‘down under’ the past few months, as has their uber soulful “Classic Mix” which is sure to keep the ripples shimmering across the pool’s at WMC this year.

“Yogi & Husky’s RSR Dub” steps up the vibe with a cut up affair, utilizing Will Farge’s sax to build up a frenzy before looping you late into an ibiza style night.

Jay-J, of Shifted Music has lent his legendary underground chuggy sound to this already jam packed EP, to give it yet another approach for a different time of the night. His unique, constantly building string arrangements will have clubs rocking all over the world… Pure class !

The B-Side of this EP is anything but a B-Side Jam. “When We Ride” is another jacked up party tune, featuring horns, cut up vocals and a funky-ass live bass that will have any girls booty rockin..

Yogi then infuses his love for sleazy disco and boogie with an interpretation anyone can bump and grind to. This is one seriously funked up remix and it will most definitely find it’s way up the charts of all the disco/funk lovers among us !

No nonsense, quality music here.. enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed making it !

SELECTED DJ FEEDBACK

Souldynamic (Purple Music) – Thanks for this cool package!! Hypnotize Me is really nice! funky atmosphere and soul vibes!!
When we ride rocks tha house!! in our next Purple Music radio show! full support!

The Sound Diggers (Flapjack/Chunky traxx) – wicked lads ! one of the best labels about at the moment ! props !

DJ Mes (Guesthouse) – “When we ride” – that’s the business there!

Christos Kedras (Kapa Music) – Classic Instrumental for me, really feeling the jazzy action, like it front stage in the instr version.

Dave Allison (Kinjo/Editorial/Alphabet) – Snap! RSR back at it again, for me it’s all about “When we ride” here. Dirty bassline, bumpin beats and sweet Rhodes, this will get lots of play….but hold up, Yogi’s Boogie Bump is dope slo- mo action too! Great for my pitched down sets. full support over here.

Shane D (Look At You/Soulmagic) – Love the original version of Hypnotize Me. Will be banging this out for a long time. Respect !

Lewis Ferrer (Reelgroove) – Top stuff guys !! Nice laid back vibe. Main mix and classic mix are my pics. And lovin’ the Yogi’s RSR Boogie Bump 😉

Soulmagic (Purple Music/Soulfuric Deep) – Guys, this is serious fire. Not a single filler in this package. All DOPE!

Niels Schroder/Dutchican Soul (Salted/Panevino) – Guys!! Really lovin the new ep! Hypnotize Me (Original Mix) is dopeness!! Also ‘When We Ride’ is very cool. Will be supporting this EP big time..

Ray Colclough (Street beat Radio) – Another jam packed release.. RSR always give loads of choice.. lovely work.. Diggin When We Ride original & Yogi & Husky Dub of Hypnotize Me, Full support

Arco (Salted/Tango) – Hypnotize me’ EP is actually the best release on the RS label for me!! QUALITY

Christian Alvarez (Delecto/Salted) – I feel like I’m a broken record, Another quality release from RSR. Never a doubt the shiz is going to be hot. Full support from me once again. Was there ever a doubt?

Joshua Heath (Golden State/Drop Music) – nice ep fellas, for the house stuff, the RSR Dub of Hypnotize is the one for me. really love the boogie bump on when we ride though

Ricardo Torres (West Coast Collective) – The ‘boys from down under’ keep raising the bar. RSR008 is a gem for any DJs virtual crate or CD wallet. The remixes for ‘Hypnotize Me’ really have something for everyone. From the real soulful tip like the original to the big room rework from the one and only Jay-J (Shifted Up Mix). Jay-J makes this track big and his production skills and experience shine on this track. Wouldn’t expect anything less from one of the originators of what we call the “West Coast Sound”. My favorite version is the Classic Mix. This is the kind of sound that has always drawn me to House Music and I don’t really care what the new thing is, I’ll always come back to this. It’s timeless and super groovy.

‘When We Ride’ is an awesome bonus to this release where that familiar Random Soul sound that is very distinct is forefront. A little bit of jackin’ with a flavor of deep. Perfect when transitioning sounds on the dance floor. The Boogie Bump slows down the track but still keeps it rocking and I love the horns.

Full support for both titles on the radio show and the dance floor. Keep em’ coming boys!

D-Reflection (Adaptation) – The Hypnotize Me RSR dub is amazing. Very original. Will surely rock WMC and I will give it some spins in Holland during that time! The Classic mix is great as well.

Andrew Chibale (Salted/Grouper) – what can i say .. all promos here are just great .. very difficult to pick a favorite as there are enough versions for everyone out there. 5/5, will support!

The House Inspectors (Inspected Music/Guesthouse) – For everyone out there that’s saying house music is dying, you can eat this record right here! So funky and soulful and would put anyone in the mood to jam out. Our picks are “Hypnotize Me” Random Soul Classic Mix and “When We Ride” Original. Great realease boys!!

Marissa Guzman – Time To Go (Incl. Black Coffee, Rithma & Demarkus Lewis Mixes) [Juicy Lucy] {promo}

release date: Mar/14/2011
The highly anticipated single from singer, songwriter Marissa Guzman’s upcoming album is also the first song she has ever produced solely. She also wrote, composed and arranged the entire song, while hiring two horn players to complete the big band vibe the music brings.

Marissa’s Original Horny Mix: Telling her tale about a “prince who turned into a toad,” Guzman wins your heart not only with her story, but also with the catchy conga bass line and bouncing, brassy horn section (hence the name of the mix). It starts with a hypnotizing percussion beat that rhythmically escalates, as Guzman’s sultry voice and lyrics pull you in. By the time the chorus kicks in, she is ready for you to help her dance away the “relationship gone bad” blues so many of us have had—then kicked—declaring that it is officially “Time To Go.”

Black Coffee’s Mix: While he is known for his deep and soulful music, Black Coffee showcases his darker percussive side with this sensuous version of “Time To Go.” He slowly builds the song up, showcasing Guzman’s vocal talents while keeping the background music simple, haunting and sly. This is definitely going to be a hit with the deep-house DJs!

Rithma’s Falun Gong Mix: Rithma is a full-spectrum artist and it shows in this remix! He didn’t hold back with this sonic miasma that smoothly creeps from the eerie Asian gong intro to the old Western slide guitar effect and low-toned “ooos” in the chorus. This mix is blissfully unpredictable, taken into a number of seemingly contradictory places with effortless panache.

Deez Exit Plan Mix: An exit plan it is! This mix takes off like a spaceship and flies into the galaxy, courtesy of Guzman’s vocals and Demarkus Lewis’s melodic musical and producing skills that orbit her voice in stellar fashion. This deep and soulful cut is already soaring deep into the house universe, since it recently was released on Lewis’s album, Mental Notes, in January 2011.

Stay tuned for Marissa Guzman’s upcoming full-length album, due out fall 2011!

*Fifty percent of the proceeds from this release will go to NextAid*
