Nulu Music is proud to release “The 4TH World” by Haitian born producer/DJ Gardy Girault
Gardy’s story began early in his life but it was a trip to NYC in the early 90’s that introduced him to a sound that he fell in love with…House Music!
It wasn’t long before his career as a DJ took off, where he began playing along side respected DJ’s in some of the hottest clubs in Haiti and Miami. Hosting his popular show on Radio One Haiti and releasing several Internet podcasts, Gardy is a definite contributor in the growth of the House scene in his country.
The January 2010 earthquake in Haiti provoked a clash in his head, boosted his inspiration and there he started to produce a fresh and unique sound using a blend of traditional Haitian beats with soulful house, which in turn is causing heads to turn and definitely bringing an interesting new vibe to the musical world. So much so that house music legends and Grammy winner Louie Vega along as well as Todd Terry are completing their remixed version for “Lakay”.
“The 4TH World” consists of two incredible tracks, “Lakay” & “Blue Dots”, both will set dance floors ablaze not only for its beautiful sounds and thumping beats but for what these two tracks really mean. When we asked Gardy to give us a brief description of each song this is what he said…
“Lakay”…”is a joyous cry of the peasantry, celebrating the pride and cultural richness of Haiti. These are the traditional songs of my country, using a blend of percussion, flute, Haitian rhythm and much joy to bring all the people to dance.”
“Blue Dots”…”is directly related to the deadly earthquake that hit Haiti so violently on January 11th 2010. At first, in the darkness beneath their “blue tents”, the people of Haiti see a glimmer of hope in the horizon while immersed in their spiritual well being.”
As from our first release NuLu is dedicated in bringing fresh and authentic world music mixed with hot beats and resonating with electronic sounds, not because its of the moment but because its our true passion.
